Each year the Nantucket Basket Museum presents a new exhibit that is creative and captures the rich history of basket making. The 2010 exhibit will focus on the evolution of the craft from the sturdy work baskets and utilitarian nests made in solitude on the Lightships to the creations of the 21st century that are adorned with carved ivory and the intricate detail of scrimshaw. Exquisite Corpse Dance Theatre offers their original theatrical belly-dance production The Book of Lilith, based on the story of the ancient Middle Eastern goddess and demoness. From her beginnings as handmaiden to the Great Goddess, initiating men into Her mysteries through sacred eros, to her appearance as First Woman in the Garden of Eden - come with Lilith as she flies through the ages through dance and artistry. Exquisite Corpse Dance Theatre is led by Artistic Director Aepril Schaile and also includes, for this full-length premiere performance, dancers Amelia Kurpeski, Libby Rowe, Shaina Rae, and Samara Martin.
